I was skimming through a couple of groups, looking for ones that my pictures would go well in, and I saw something that kind of struck a nerve
with me. I've noticed this before, on several occasions. Of course, this is only my opinion, obviously a lot of others view it differently, but...
one of the rules of the group I saw stated that your work will be denied if your work isn't talented or high enough quality. I feel that this isn't right.
If you are going to host a group for art, and art lovers alike, then shouldn't they be allowed to submit something they poured their heart and soul
into creating, without being told that it isn't good enough to show in the group? I've experienced this personally before myself. I was once told that
my art could not be accepted because I don't shade well enough. I worked for days on that drawing. And to this day, I will tell anyone that it is my best
piece. I am very proud to have created it. But, it didn't meet the standard. It wasn't acceptable 'quality'. It had to be denied because, although I considered it
beautiful, I was proud of it, I wanted to show the world, it added up to what someone else, who was in charge of judging it, as unworthy. I wonder, how many
others feel the way I do. I believe that art, no matter how realistic or shaded you may have made it, or how fine it was sculpted, or captured, should be treated as art.
Sure, some may like it, some may not. But to have it denied from an art group...because some other person made it prettier...is wrong. Who's to really judge what art is?
